La hipótesis aristotélica acerca de la existencia de una sensibilidad común (iccavii atcr9io s) es uno de los puntos más importantes de su teoría de la percepción. Con ella Aristóteles garantiza que la sensibilidad del viviente no es una simple amalgama de sensaciones dispersas, sino una facultadunificada e indivisible que, para ciertos efectos, se especializa en cinco sentidos externos.
